From Sorrow to Strength – A Christian Grief Retreat for Women

Find comfort and healing through Christ at From Sorrow to Strength, a grief retreat in Gettysburg, PA for Christian women navigating loss. Rest, reflect, and move forward with faith.

You Are Not Alone in Your Grief

Grief touches every life. It arrives quietly or suddenly, sometimes through death, but often through the many losses that life inevitably brings—lost relationships, broken dreams, infertility, a miscarriage, career changes, transitions, family estrangement, a diagnosis, the loss of safety or innocence, or even the loss of who we used to be. Grief is not just about death. It’s about navigating the pain of any kind of loss, whether it’s visible to others or held silently within.

If you’ve been carrying sorrow—whether openly or privately—you are not alone. We created From Sorrow to Strength: Finding Hope After Loss as a sacred space for you to rest, breathe, and begin healing in community.

This one-day Christ-centered retreat invites you to process grief in a holistic way—through faith, yoga, nature, creativity, and connection. Whether your loss is fresh or something you've carried for years, this day is for you.

What to Expect: A Gentle Day of Healing and Hope

Our retreat day is designed with care and compassion. It is not meant to "fix" grief, but to create space for it—to acknowledge what’s been lost, and to offer tools, presence, and support as you take steps forward. The day runs from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and includes:

Christ-Centered Yoga with Brittany Edie

Led by Graceful Balance founder and certified yoga teacher Brittany Edie, this gentle practice invites you to reconnect with your body and breath while anchoring in God’s love and truth. This yoga flow is accessible to all levels and centered on Scripture, worship, and presence. No experience is needed.

Grief Yoga with Brooke Hagerty

Brooke Hagerty is a certified grief yoga instructor who brings deep compassion to her practice. Grief Yoga incorporates breath, movement, sound, and stillness to help process and release emotions stored in the body. This powerful practice allows you to move through pain with safety, intention, and support.

An Inspiring Guest Speaker

Throughout the day, you’ll hear from our speaker who has walked through grief herself and now holds space for others. Her story will offer validation, encouragement, and hope for your journey.

Quiet Meditation & Reflection

You’ll have space to simply be. Whether through guided meditation, silent prayer, or time alone with your thoughts, these moments allow you to hear your own soul and connect with God in the stillness.

Time in Nature

God meets us in creation. Our retreat includes unstructured time to be outside, walking, journaling, breathing deeply, or simply enjoying the peace that nature offers.

Creative Expression & Therapeutic Crafting

Grief can be hard to put into words. Our gentle creative session gives you the chance to process what you’re feeling through hands-on crafting. No artistic skills required—just an open heart.

Community & Connection

One of the greatest comforts in grief is knowing we don’t have to carry it alone. You’ll have opportunities to connect with others who understand what it’s like to grieve. Whether through group discussion, shared prayer, or simply sitting beside one another, healing happens in community.

Nutritious Breakfast & Lunch Included

We’ll nourish not just your heart, but your body, too. A wholesome breakfast and lunch are provided.

Who This Retreat Is For:

  • Life transitions that left you feeling disoriented

  • Health challenges or a difficult diagnosis

  • The fading of a long-held dream

  • Feeling spiritually lost or disconnected

...this space is for you.

Grief does not have to be “justified” or validated by anyone else to be real. If you’re feeling the ache of sorrow or the weight of emotional pain, we invite you to join us. Your story belongs here.

Why Yoga and Faith for Grief?

When we experience loss, our bodies often carry the pain long after our minds try to move on. Tight shoulders, fatigue, shallow breathing, tension in the chest—these are all physical expressions of grief. Yoga gently invites us to move through what we’re feeling, allowing space for release and renewal.

And as Christians, we believe God meets us right where we are—in our sorrow, our confusion, our weariness. Christ-centered yoga offers a sacred way to connect to God through movement, breath, and stillness. Scripture becomes our anchor. Worship becomes our breath. Grief becomes something we no longer carry alone.

  • Guest Speaker

Jazzmine Magloire is a speaker, certified life coach, and author who walks with others through deep loss, transformation, and healing. Her message is one of faith, resilience, and radical honesty, grounded in her own grief journey after the heartbreaking loss of her 12-year-old son, David, to suicide in 2021. Since then, she and her family have been learning how to grieve fully while continuing to live, love, and laugh—honoring David’s memory while holding tightly to one another.

With certifications in professional life coaching (Life Breakthrough Christian Coaching), bereavement training, suicide prevention (QPR Institute), and crisis support, Jazzmine combines personal experience with professional insight to create safe, empowering spaces for others. Her approach is rooted in compassion, self-awareness, and the belief that healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and understood.

At From Sorrow to Strength, Jazzmine will offer a powerful, hope-filled message that speaks to those grieving both death and life’s other kinds of losses. Her storytelling is raw, redemptive, and real—reminding us that while we may not get to choose what happens to us, we can choose how we rise.

Jazzmine is also the author of If He Doesn’t, a reflective and healing devotional birthed from her own pain, and a longtime writer and spoken word poet. She lives in Maryland with her husband, Matt, and their three living children, where they enjoy movie nights, honest conversations, and keeping up with the beautiful chaos of family life.

  • Creative Director

Amanda Cole is a gifted interior designer, artist, creative encourager, and workshop leader with a passion for helping women experience healing through hands-on expression. As Creative Director for From Sorrow to Strength, Amanda will guide participants through a meaningful art project inspired by the Japanese practice of kintsugi—the art of mending broken pottery with gold to highlight, not hide, the cracks.

Using paper instead of pottery, Amanda will lead a reflective session that honors the beauty found in brokenness, helping each participant explore the sacred truth that we are not discarded or forgotten in our pain—but seen, held, and made whole by God’s grace.

With her calm presence and heart for connection, Amanda creates a space where creativity becomes a form of prayer, storytelling, and restoration. Whether you consider yourself artistic or not, you’ll walk away with a tangible reminder of your strength, your healing, and God’s redemptive love woven through it all.

A Sacred Invitation
