He Called Me to Fish

Follow Me. Cast Your Net. Stay Salty.

A Coastal Christian Women’s Retreat by Graceful Balance Collective

May 4-7. 2027 | Sandbridge Beach, VA

Jesus didn’t call the most qualified.

He called ordinary people willing to follow Him.

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.”
— Matthew 4:19

What if living the Great Commission wasn’t about having the perfect words, knowing enough Scripture, or becoming someone you’re not?

What if it simply started with staying close enough to Jesus to hear Him say:

Follow Me.

He Called Me to Fish is a weekend Christian women’s retreat centered around discipleship, the Great Commission, and learning to live a life that naturally points others toward Jesus.

And because we believe some things are better experienced than simply talked about…

we’re actually going fishing.

THIS ISN’T AN EVANGELISM CONFERENCE.

It’s an invitation.

An invitation to slow down.

To spend time with Jesus.

To discover where He is already working.

To recognize the people He has intentionally placed around you.
And to become more courageous about joining Him there.

You don't need a perfectly polished testimony.

You don't need to know how to answer every theological question.

And you definitely don't need to know how to fish.

You just need to be willing to follow.

FOLLOW ME.

Before Jesus gave His disciples a mission, He gave them an invitation.

Follow Me.

Our ability to live on mission begins with our ability to remain close to Jesus.

Throughout the weekend, we'll create space to listen, worship, pray, reflect, rest, and reconnect with the One we're following.

Because the Great Commission isn't first about doing more for Jesus.

It's about becoming a disciple who walks closely with Him.

Cast Your Net.

There is something wonderfully freeing about fishing:

You can cast the net.
You cannot control what enters it.

The same is true when we share Jesus.

We can love. We can invite. We can tell our story.

We can serve. We can pray. We can speak when God nudges us to speak.

But we don't have to carry responsibility for the outcome.

Throughout the weekend, we'll explore practical, authentic ways to live the Great Commission through our everyday relationships, families, workplaces, churches and communities.

No scripts. No pressure.

Just learning to recognize where Jesus is leading—and having the courage to cast.

Stay Salty.

He also told them:

“You are the salt of the earth.”
— Matthew 5:13

Salt preserves. Salt brings flavor. Salt makes people thirsty.

And salt doesn't accomplish much sitting safely inside the shaker.

Following Jesus was never meant to be something we keep to ourselves.

Throughout this retreat, we'll explore what it looks like to live differently—not for attention or recognition, but in a way that makes the people around us curious about the hope, peace, joy and love they see within us.

Our prayer is that you leave this weekend ready to return to your everyday life and...

Follow Him. Cast your net. Stay salty.

Jesus didn't only tell His followers to fish.
Consider this your warning:

Things might get a little salty.

One of the signature experiences of this retreat will be an opportunity to actually go fishing together.

Whether you've been fishing your entire life or have absolutely no idea which end of the fishing pole you're supposed to hold, you're welcome.

We'll learn. We'll laugh. We'll probably get tangled. We'll wait. Hopefully we'll catch something.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, we think Jesus may have something to teach us.

Because suddenly words like...

patience. trust. obedience. waiting. casting again. celebrating someone else's catch.

...mean something different when you're standing beside the water with a fishing pole in your hand.

No previous fishing experience is necessary.

AND YES…WE'RE GOING FISHING.

WHAT YOUR trip MAY INCLUDE

This isn't a weekend of sitting in a conference room listening to teaching after teaching.

Graceful Balance Collective retreats are intentionally experiential.

There will be moments that are deep.

There will be moments that are quiet.

And there will absolutely be moments that are just plain fun.

Because we believe women can encounter God through worship and Scripture and laugh until their stomachs hurt five minutes later.

Both belong here.

Your retreat may include:

• Biblical teaching and meaningful conversation
• Worship and prayer
• An actual fishing experience
• Christ-centered movement and Holy Alignment
• Time near the water
• Guided reflection and journaling
• Experiential prayer activities
• Creative experiences
• Rest and unhurried free time
• Incredible food around a shared table
• Laughter, adventure and genuine community
• A few surprises along the way

COME TO THE TABLE.

Some of the most meaningful moments of a retreat happen around the table.

That's why meals aren't simply something we need to squeeze between sessions.

They're part of the experience.

Meals throughout the weekend will be handled for you and enjoyed together, giving you permission to step away from planning, preparing, serving and cleaning up.

Whenever possible, meals will be served deconstructed style, allowing each woman to build her plate according to her preferences and dietary needs.

You'll have an opportunity to share dietary needs during registration, and we'll make every reasonable effort to accommodate them. Because meals are prepared for the group, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or accommodate every individual dietary restriction.

Your job?

Come hungry. We'll take care of the rest.

MAYBE YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A RETREAT LIKE THIS.

This weekend may be for you if...

You love Jesus but sharing your faith makes you nervous.

You wonder whether you actually know enough to disciple someone else.

You want to become more confident sharing your story.

You sense God asking you to step beyond what's comfortable.

You want to recognize the opportunities He's already placing in front of you.

You're craving deeper Christian community.

You need space away from everyday responsibilities to hear God again.

You want a retreat that includes meaningful spiritual formation without forgetting that following Jesus can also include adventure, laughter and joy.

You don't have to arrive confident.

Just come willing.

MEET YOUR HOST

Brittany is the founder of Graceful Balance Wellness and Graceful Balance Collective, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified EMDR Therapist, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and lover of creating spaces where women can slow down long enough to notice what God is doing.

As a wife, mom of four, therapist and business owner, Brittany understands how easy it is for women to spend their lives pouring out while forgetting how desperately they need spaces to receive.

Graceful Balance retreats were born from a simple desire: to create beautiful, intentional experiences where women can step away from ordinary life, encounter God, build meaningful friendships, laugh, adventure, rest and return home changed.

And for this retreat?

Apparently Jesus told us to go fishing.

So we're going fishing.

Jenna Myers-Heraped

Jenna Myers-Heraped is a beloved returning speaker at Graceful Balance Collective retreats, known for her heart for Jesus, authentic approach to teaching Scripture, and ability to invite women into deeper intimacy with God.

Having joined us for multiple retreats, Jenna brings a familiar and treasured voice to our community. Her teaching is rooted in Scripture and a desire to help women move beyond simply knowing about Jesus to truly knowing Him, recognizing His voice, and courageously following wherever He leads.

At He Called Me to Fish, Jenna will guide us through what it means to answer Jesus' invitation to “Follow Me,” embrace our calling as fishers of people, and live out the Great Commission in everyday life.

With warmth, encouragement, and biblical truth, Jenna will remind us that we don't have to have all the answers or feel perfectly equipped to be used by God.

We simply have to be willing to follow.

We're so excited to welcome Jenna back for another unforgettable retreat!
